2021 Annual Report

2021 Annual Report

Thank you for your support, encouragement, and prayers for Men Standing Positive this past year. Here are some 2021 highlights:

2021 Highlights

Outreach & Events Expansion

The year began with God leading the Men Standing Positive team into a new community – Centralia, IL. In March, our team held a school assembly for the students and staff at Alternative Learning Academy. The school serves at-risk students living in Marion, Washington, and Clinton counties in Illinois. Following the assembly, Principal Kim Voss said “the speaking was aligned perfectly with what the staff at the Learning Academy work to teach the children.” Second, Men Standing Positive participated in the opening night of a youth summer camp called CAMP5. CAMP5 serves underprivileged children grades 3rd to 10th who live in Southern Illinois. Paztuh Paztuh Mike and Deidra DeNeise gave a live performance and shared their own life testimonies of change. Fourteen kids gave their lives to Christ at the end of the concert and were baptized later that week. Last but not least, Men Standing Positive started making connections and building our network of Church Partners and Urban Missions Partners to continue working in the Centralia community for 2022 and beyond.

Evangelism Training & Street Outreach

Men Standing Positive hosted four Evangelism Training Sessions in the St. Louis area to prepare individuals for upcoming street outreach. We had six street outreaches between the Summer and Fall. Sixteen people gave or rededicated their lives to the Lord.

Mentor Program

We launched a new portion of our Mentor Program called MSP Jobs. It’s designed to connect and assist men and women who want to work in the trades. Men Standing Positive’s Founder has years of trade experience and wanted to create these valuable opportunities for those in our Mentor Program. Through one of our Church Partners we met Justin, he was desperately in need of stable work. We were able to connect Justin with full-time employment and benefits. He is learning new painting skills daily and “very thankful for the opportunity.” In addition, we had a young lady named Tamika call the volunteer line who wanted to help in her community. Through that phone conversation, she was led to Christ and we placed her in a church home for support and discipleship. A Mentor began one-on-one meetings with Tamika, and she was able to receive some needed clothing and food.

COVID Relief & Recovery

Men Standing Positive started a designated COVID Relief & Recovery fund for those families and individuals severely impacted. The funds raised go directly to help with groceries, hygiene products, assist with medical expenses, and more. This past year, we assisted one family. Sahra was taken to the hospital by ambulance with COVID complications. She was in the ICU on breathing machines for eighteen days. Miraculously, she began recovering and was able to finally come home. However, her path to full recovery had just begun. Men Standing Positive was able to provide financial assistance for some much needed post-COVID medical treatments.

What’s Ahead in 2022

Thank you for your continued financial support and prayers. Your backing means so much to the MSP team and, most importantly, to the individuals and families who benefit from our programs and services.

Men Standing Positive is excited for what lies ahead for 2022.  As we continually seek to be agents of change who provide encouragement, hope, and opportunities for transformation in our local St. Louis Metro area community and beyond.

2020 Annual Report

2020: An Unprecedented Year

2020 was unlike any year in recent history. The pandemic caused a lot of unexpected changes, including a halt to our regularly scheduled Men Standing Positive (MSP) outreaches. But, despite the sweeping shutdowns, MSP still made positive strides last year. Here’s a quick summary:

2020 Highlights

School Uniforms

MSP is gearing up for another Back-to-School Bash in partnership with Dunbar Elementary in East St. Louis. The event was postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic, but we were still able to purchase the bulk of the school uniforms. They include girls and boys shirts, slacks, shorts, and skorts. We’ll distribute them for free to Dunbar students once they resume in-person learning. We thank you for making this important give-away possible. Your financial support and prayers are making a real difference in the lives of Dunbar students and their families.

Homeless Outreach Truck Fundraiser

We sold the MSP homeless outreach box truck due to the high repair costs needed to get it up and running. To help purchase a new, reliable vehicle, we began an MSP fundraiser that is currently underway. Our goal is to raise at least $7,000. Please prayerfully consider making a contribution. Your donations will help us buy a dependable truck that we will use to store and haul food, clothes, and other necessities for the homeless throughout the St. Louis region. And not just for a month here and there, but all year round. In addition to helping us transport items for the homeless, we’ll use the truck to carry supplies to various events and to deliver packages to our Case Management Program participants.

New MSP Leadership

At the end of 2020, we welcomed a new Community Outreach Director, Community Outreach Leader, Events and Volunteer Coordinator, and Kitchen and Food Pantry Leader to the MSP team. We’re excited to have new members help fulfill our mission to empower and inspire people by bringing wholeness, change, and a peace of mind through various community outreaches, conferences, events, and programs.

Rebranding

At year’s end, we also created a new MSP logo. It better reflects who we are as an organization and what MSP represents. Our revamped look and feel is in the works, so stay tuned for our updated web presence and new marketing/event materials.

What’s Ahead in 2021

The MSP team is in a time of great prayer. We’re waiting to hear God’s specific direction for our ministry in 2021. Rest assured, we won’t move until we have God’s release: His way is far better than our own way. In the meantime, we’re training our new team leaders in preparation for the outreaches God would have us carry out this year. Please join us in prayer for God’s perfect will to be done in every endeavor we pursue.

Also, we plan to rename our Case Management Program in 2021. This gives us the freedom to bring on team leaders who may not have formal social work training, but have God-given gifts and talents that are needed for this program. We’ll share more with you in the coming months.

Thank you for your continued financial support and prayers. Your backing means so much to the MSP team and, most importantly, to the individuals and families who benefit from our programs and services.

For over a decade, Men Standing Positive has met the physical and spiritual needs of hundreds of men, women, and children in the St. Louis region. Providing food, clothing, and other essentials wouldn’t be possible without reliable transportation. We recently had to get rid of our old truck and now need your support to raise funds for a new and improved vehicle. We appreciate your support!

MSP Evangelism Training – Building Kingdom Citizens

Part 1 Session Date: Saturday May 1st, 2021 RSVP HERE

Part 2 Session Date: Saturday May 8th, 2021 RSVP HERE

It’s so easy to sit in the pews on Sundays, get stirred up by praise and worship music, and shout “Amen!” during a rousing sermon. But what happens after that? For all the good that happens inside the church each weekend, it’s often people that are already Christians who reap the benefits. Yet every week–actually, every day–there are many more people outside the church who still need our help. People who may never attend a Sunday service, but are still considered incredibly valuable to God. What about them?

Well, that’s where you come in.

Men Standing Positive is looking for volunteers who aren’t just interested in hearing the Good News. Instead, they want to practically and boldly take that message into the streets and see lives changed. MSP believes every knock on every door matters. That’s because behind every door, there’s a man, woman, or child whose day—or life—could change because someone took time to check on them and share the gospel of Jesus Christ. And that’s what MSP is all about: transforming lives by transforming mindsets.

The time is now to help MSP build Kingdom citizens; reaching men, women, and children in North and South City St. Louis, East St. Louis Illinois, Washington Park Illinois, and beyond.

So don’t just sit there. Get up and go!

Please join Men Standing Positive this May for Evangelism Training: Part 1 and Part 2. Both sessions are required for anyone wanting to become a Street Minister for MSP. It’s necessary that you attend BOTH dates as each session covers different topics. Admission is FREE and lunch is provided directly following each session.

Session Time: 10am to 12pm with lunch served at 12pm

Session Location: Jubilee Community Church 4231 N. Grand Blvd. St. Louis, MO

Training Sessions are led by Paztuh Mike Wuebbles, Founder of Men Standing Positive

For more info, please email volunteer@menstandingpositive.org or call 314-400-2906.

Support MSP School Events

As we settle into 2021, Men Standing Positive (MSP) is gearing up to serve individuals and families in the St. Louis region, Illinois, and other cities to come. Of course, this includes one of our favorite and most popular activities: outreaches to area schools and to students of all ages. Over the years, MSP has hosted a variety of school events, given away free uniforms, filled auditoriums with positive music, and delivered motivational messages.

This year, we want to reach more students than ever. But we know we can't do it alone. Your prayers and financial backing make it all possible. Any financial gift you give will help us start, and build on, our visits to elementary, middle, and high schools at a time when students need our support like never before. All proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will go toward:

  • School uniform giveaways
  • Events that include live music and uplifting messages from MSP leaders
  • Job training and community assistance programs for parents
  • Free food and clothing distribution

    • School Uniforms Most Needed for 2021: Slacks, Shorts, Skorts, & Jumpers
    • Condition: New or Gently Used
    • Kids Sizes: 5 to 12
    • Colors: Navy Blue, Khaki or Black

MSP Back to School Bash- Uniform Drive for Dunbar Kids

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a harsh and far-reaching effect on every part of society. Nobody’s been spared, including children across the country who were suddenly forced to forego personal, hands-on classroom instruction and hangouts with friends to keep them safe. Since early spring, they haven’t been able to learn, play, and just be a kid like they’re used to.

As the next school year starts, it’s probably going to look a lot different than years past. But there’s no doubt students will be pumped to see their favorite teachers and classmates back in the hallways. You can make their return—and their future—even more memorable by supporting Men Standing Positive’s annual school fundraiser.

2019 Annual Report

2019 Annual Report

Our Sincere Thanks

2020 is underway, but we don’t want to move too far into the new year without thanking you for being a faithful supporter of Men Standing Positive (MSP). Your contributions in 2019 allowed us to provide clothing, food, and jobs to our program beneficiaries. You also helped in our ongoing efforts to share the good news of Jesus Christ in urban communities. Last year was equally a time of great challenge and testing, but we now feel more prepared to handle all that God wants MSP to accomplish in 2020 and beyond. We are blessed to have you with us on this journey.

2019 Highlights

MSP Back to School Bash

MSP participated for the first time in the annual Dunbar Elementary Open House. Paztuh Mike gave a short performance and DJ G from New Life Music provided the music. At least 79 students received uniforms that day, including: Kindergarten (23 students); 1st Grade (12 students); 2nd Grade (17 students); 3rd Grade (15 students); 4th Grade (12 students).

Outreach Training for MSP Staff Members

MSP Community Outreach Leaders participated in Outreach Training led by Paztuh Mike and Bill Neumann. Training participants later led twelve people to Christ, including a 17-year old; four middle-aged men and women; a young woman in her twenties; and six children. Outreach Training took place at John DeShields Homes in East St. Louis, Illinois.

MSP Online Store Launch

MSP merchandise was made available on the MSP website online store. Products include GO! and Honoring Church Leadership DVD messages by Paztuh Mike, MSP T-shirts, and MSP hoodies. All proceeds go toward bringing the Gospel to jails, schools, the streets, and churches.

Clothing Truck Donation

A local church donated a truck to MSP to deliver clothes for homeless outreaches and school events.

Meet Ron

We met Ron during an MSP homeless outreach in 2019. After hearing about our programs and services, Ron agreed to regular counseling sessions with MSP staff.  He eventually entered a job training program offered in collaboration with Life Bridge Academy. That training, combined with job search assistance from MSP staff members, led to us finding and securing a welding apprenticeship for Ron. Thanks to your financial support, we were also able to provide Ron with bus fare, food, clothing, work boots, and a Bible.

A Look Ahead

We’re excited to continue our community outreaches, street evangelism, school events, and outreach training in 2020. We’ll report on our whereabouts and results through our blog. Stay tuned for more!

Also this year, we hope to raise enough funds to hire at least two full-time case managers. Our case management program is at the heart of MSP. Through it, we serve as a third-party filter to strategically place individuals in community assistance programs. Our goal is to always serve the whole person: spiritually, emotionally, and physically. With full-time case managers, we will be able to offer more real-world help to a greater number of people.

The MSP Urban Missions Program is our primary resource to fund the case management system. MSP supporters can also earmark their donations to ensure the money goes directly to our case management efforts. We’ve calculated that through Urban Missions, if we get 50 churches to agree to donate $75 a week, we can hire at least two case managers. We appreciate your prayers and recommendations. If you know of interested churches, please e-mail us at urbanmissions@menstandingpositive.org or call (314) 888-5407.

Thank you for helping us make a difference!

MSP Uniform Donation Drive for Dunbar Kids

Imagine your child or grandchild unable to start the school year on
time because they do not have the proper clothing. Imagine your son or daughter embarrassed because they have to start the school year with a worn out uniform. Or perhaps their only uniform option doesn’t even fit properly.

These scenarios are a sobering reality for students and parents across
the country and one example is Dunbar Elementary School in East St.
Louis. Of the 425 enrolled students (K-4th), almost 20% will miss the
first days of school until they can get a uniform and approximately
45% of students only have access to worn items from prior years that
are too big or too small. If you do the math, only one-third of the
student body has the proper uniform attire needed for the school year.

Men Standing Positive and Paztuh Mike were invited by Principal Coleman to participate in Dunbar’s Open House for the staff, students and their families.  Won’t you join us and help get the Dunbar kids back to class? Please click here for appropriate school colors, sizes, and the designated drop off locations and times. If you wish to designate a financial gift, please click here to donate online and add in the notes, “Dunbar”.

Thank you for your support!

Remember Walter?

We originally met Walter in the summer of 2015 during a street outreach in South City St. Louis. He accepted Christ on that outreach, came to an MSP conference, joined a church and began to grow in his relationship with God. At the end of 2017, he applied and was accepted into the Job and Leadership Training (JLT) Program at Mission St. Louis. He successfully completed Phase One with perfect attendance and received the Excellence Award for going above and beyond the student requirements. During the program, Walter interned at Schnucks Bakery and was hired immediately following his JLT graduation. Today, he is preparing to enroll and complete his GED while simultaneously working his full-time job.
