2019 Annual Report
Our Sincere Thanks
2020 is underway, but we don’t want to move too far into the new year without thanking you for being a faithful supporter of Men Standing Positive (MSP). Your contributions in 2019 allowed us to provide clothing, food, and jobs to our program beneficiaries. You also helped in our ongoing efforts to share the good news of Jesus Christ in urban communities. Last year was equally a time of great challenge and testing, but we now feel more prepared to handle all that God wants MSP to accomplish in 2020 and beyond. We are blessed to have you with us on this journey.
2019 Highlights
MSP Back to School Bash
MSP participated for the first time in the annual Dunbar Elementary Open House. Paztuh Mike gave a short performance and DJ G from New Life Music provided the music. At least 79 students received uniforms that day, including: Kindergarten (23 students); 1st Grade (12 students); 2nd Grade (17 students); 3rd Grade (15 students); 4th Grade (12 students).
Outreach Training for MSP Staff Members
MSP Community Outreach Leaders participated in Outreach Training led by Paztuh Mike and Bill Neumann. Training participants later led twelve people to Christ, including a 17-year old; four middle-aged men and women; a young woman in her twenties; and six children. Outreach Training took place at John DeShields Homes in East St. Louis, Illinois.
MSP Online Store Launch
MSP merchandise was made available on the MSP website online store. Products include GO! and Honoring Church Leadership DVD messages by Paztuh Mike, MSP T-shirts, and MSP hoodies. All proceeds go toward bringing the Gospel to jails, schools, the streets, and churches.
Clothing Truck Donation
A local church donated a truck to MSP to deliver clothes for homeless outreaches and school events.
Meet Ron
We met Ron during an MSP homeless outreach in 2019. After hearing about our programs and services, Ron agreed to regular counseling sessions with MSP staff. He eventually entered a job training program offered in collaboration with Life Bridge Academy. That training, combined with job search assistance from MSP staff members, led to us finding and securing a welding apprenticeship for Ron. Thanks to your financial support, we were also able to provide Ron with bus fare, food, clothing, work boots, and a Bible.
A Look Ahead
We’re excited to continue our community outreaches, street evangelism, school events, and outreach training in 2020. We’ll report on our whereabouts and results through our blog. Stay tuned for more!
Also this year, we hope to raise enough funds to hire at least two full-time case managers. Our case management program is at the heart of MSP. Through it, we serve as a third-party filter to strategically place individuals in community assistance programs. Our goal is to always serve the whole person: spiritually, emotionally, and physically. With full-time case managers, we will be able to offer more real-world help to a greater number of people.
The MSP Urban Missions Program is our primary resource to fund the case management system. MSP supporters can also earmark their donations to ensure the money goes directly to our case management efforts. We’ve calculated that through Urban Missions, if we get 50 churches to agree to donate $75 a week, we can hire at least two case managers. We appreciate your prayers and recommendations. If you know of interested churches, please e-mail us at urbanmissions@menstandingpositive.org or call (314) 888-5407.
Thank you for helping us make a difference!
