2020 Annual Report

2020: An Unprecedented Year

2020 was unlike any year in recent history. The pandemic caused a lot of unexpected changes, including a halt to our regularly scheduled Men Standing Positive (MSP) outreaches. But, despite the sweeping shutdowns, MSP still made positive strides last year. Here’s a quick summary:

2020 Highlights

School Uniforms

MSP is gearing up for another Back-to-School Bash in partnership with Dunbar Elementary in East St. Louis. The event was postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic, but we were still able to purchase the bulk of the school uniforms. They include girls and boys shirts, slacks, shorts, and skorts. We’ll distribute them for free to Dunbar students once they resume in-person learning. We thank you for making this important give-away possible. Your financial support and prayers are making a real difference in the lives of Dunbar students and their families.

Homeless Outreach Truck Fundraiser

We sold the MSP homeless outreach box truck due to the high repair costs needed to get it up and running. To help purchase a new, reliable vehicle, we began an MSP fundraiser that is currently underway. Our goal is to raise at least $7,000. Please prayerfully consider making a contribution. Your donations will help us buy a dependable truck that we will use to store and haul food, clothes, and other necessities for the homeless throughout the St. Louis region. And not just for a month here and there, but all year round. In addition to helping us transport items for the homeless, we’ll use the truck to carry supplies to various events and to deliver packages to our Case Management Program participants.

New MSP Leadership

At the end of 2020, we welcomed a new Community Outreach Director, Community Outreach Leader, Events and Volunteer Coordinator, and Kitchen and Food Pantry Leader to the MSP team. We’re excited to have new members help fulfill our mission to empower and inspire people by bringing wholeness, change, and a peace of mind through various community outreaches, conferences, events, and programs.

Rebranding

At year’s end, we also created a new MSP logo. It better reflects who we are as an organization and what MSP represents. Our revamped look and feel is in the works, so stay tuned for our updated web presence and new marketing/event materials.

What’s Ahead in 2021

The MSP team is in a time of great prayer. We’re waiting to hear God’s specific direction for our ministry in 2021. Rest assured, we won’t move until we have God’s release: His way is far better than our own way. In the meantime, we’re training our new team leaders in preparation for the outreaches God would have us carry out this year. Please join us in prayer for God’s perfect will to be done in every endeavor we pursue.

Also, we plan to rename our Case Management Program in 2021. This gives us the freedom to bring on team leaders who may not have formal social work training, but have God-given gifts and talents that are needed for this program. We’ll share more with you in the coming months.

Thank you for your continued financial support and prayers. Your backing means so much to the MSP team and, most importantly, to the individuals and families who benefit from our programs and services.

For over a decade, Men Standing Positive has met the physical and spiritual needs of hundreds of men, women, and children in the St. Louis region. Providing food, clothing, and other essentials wouldn’t be possible without reliable transportation. We recently had to get rid of our old truck and now need your support to raise funds for a new and improved vehicle. We appreciate your support!

THANK YOU PARTNERS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

WE HOPE THAT YOU WILL CONTINUE IN 2021!
